The Board of Trustees is responsible for establishing policies for the operation of SACC and for seeing that those policies are properly executed; for approving and monitoring SACC's annual budget, which includes setting tuition and arranging for fundraising sufficient to cover the gap between income and costs; and for maintaining the long-term stability of the organization. The Board of Trustees currently has 9 members, who are elected for three-year terms. Members may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why was I asked to join the board?
A current or past board member believes you have the right qualifications to contribute your time, money and talent to help SACC grow and thrive past its two-decade benchmark.

What is expected of board members?
Board members are expected to:

• Attend an annual meeting
• Attend monthly board meetings currently set for the second Monday of every month from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
• Be a donor of record and contribute to the Chorus Annual Fund and special projects
• Serve on a board committee such as Strategic Planning, Finance, Policies and Procedures, Personnel, as well as ad hoc project committees

How long is a board member’s term?
Terms are three years, renewable up to two consecutive terms. If you want to serve after sitting out one three-year term, you’re welcome to reapply for continued service.

What if I’ve never served on a board before?
You’ve clearly demonstrated your leadership in other arenas and have proven to a fellow community member that you have the skills and connections necessary to serve and therefore we’d love to have you aboard.

Where can I find out more about the Children’s Chorus?
If after reading our materials, you have questions, we’d love to invite you to lunch, a rehearsal or performance so you can witness for yourself the amazing quality of our choral program. SACC’s number is 624-7992. Please identify yourself as a prospective board member and we’ll happily arrange a visit for you.

What if I would prefer to decline your board service invitation-how else can I help?
If your schedule is full at this time, you still have the opportunity to join our growing list of donors who value choral music education. Your tax-deductible contribution will be used to fund scholarships for needy choristers, buy music for the concert season or update musical and/or recording equipment. You may designate where your contribution goes or instruct the staff to fill the area of greatest need. We’d love to
have you join the SACC family in the way you feel most comfortable.
